GD Development Announced The Completion of a Rooftop PV System

GD Development, a PV EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) contractor established by Taiwan-based solar cell maker Gintech Energy, has announced the completion of a rooftop PV system at Kaohsiung International Airport and another at Tainan Airport, both in southern Taiwan, with total installation capacity of 750KWp to generate electricity of 874,000kWh a year.

GD Development rented roofs of buildings owned by airlines at the two airports to install PV systems and will sell generated power to state-run Taiwan Power Company, with rent based on certain proportions of power sales revenues, the company said. For this project, equity funds and bank loans took up 20% and 80% respectively of the investment and return on investment is estimated to take 10 years, GD indicated.

GD has also obtained a project to install a ground-mounted PV power-generating station in New Jersey State of the US, with installation to begin at the end the first quarter or the second quarter of 2015, the company said. Apart from US government financial subsidy for the project, GD plans to have equity funds and lending account for 30% and 70% respectively of the remainder of the otal cost and Gintech will supply solar cells for making PV modules to be used in the station, the company indicated.

GD expects PV systems installed and to be installed to reach cumulative capacity of 15MWp in 2015. The company will expand its paid-in capital from NT$190 million (US$5.94 million) currently to NT$380 million at the end of January 2015.
