Oran Textile Sector Formalized a Social Enterprise Contract with UOCRA

The textile sector of Argentinean city of Oran has formalized a social enterprise contract with a union of industrial workers UOCRA to increase the production of work clothes by the apparel manufacturing firms based in the city.

The UOCRA invested 30,000 pesos to provide raw material and machinery to the apparel manufacturing firms of Oran, capital city of Salta province, said Javier Massafra, Secretary of Social Economy and Employment, Ministry of Labor of the Salta province.

Oran-based apparel manufacturing firms aim to produce 850 pairs of work clothes (pants and shirts) in the month of May and plan a continuous increase in their production capacity, according to a statement.

“Social enterprises are an example of how the state should promote development in the province by creating job opportunities and contribute to the development of the workers,” Mr. Massafra said.

Social enterprises, a part of the social economy project, are methods to generate employment. The provincial government acts as an employer to promote and support the training, development and positioning of the enterprises.
