The Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS) will once again bring the innovative and cutting-edge technologies retailers use every day to the forefront at Retail’s BIG Show. The ARTS Pavilion (booth 2253), a showcase of retail solutions based on ARTS Open Standards, will open Monday, January 14, 2013 on the EXPO Floor at NRF’s 103rd Annual Convention and EXPO at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. This will be ARTS’ 13th year hosting a special Standards Pavilion.
This year’s featured showcase is an ARTS-enabled day in the life of BevMo!, a leading beverage-lifestyle specialty retailer in the western United States and among the largest in the country. This showcase sets the tone for the mobile, social and data management technologies presented by 18 exhibiting vendors from North and South America, Asia and Europe.
ARTS representatives will be onsite and available to explain how retailers can use ARTS to implement mobile and social media applications and improve their data management.
The pavilion will feature the following integration demonstrations:
• A Day in the Life of BevMo! – The ARTS Way. A leading beverage-lifestyle specialty retailer has rapidly deployed a customer-focused IT platform using ARTS. BevMo! technology partners (Cumulus Data Services, Envizio, NCR, Teradata and Trevarian) will also demonstrate various ARTS-based solutions.
• Epson and Japanese Standards Group OPOS-J will exhibit a virtual point-of-sale transaction system using web services, mobile smart phone and tablet devices, POS hardware devices and cloud-based applications incorporating ARTS WS-POS and UnifiedPOS standards.
• Germany-based scale manufacturer Bizerba will be presenting their use of the ARTS UnifiedPOS standard and will integrate with ADC’s InterStore application using the ARTS Fresh Item Management schema. The ARTS Fresh Item Management schema allows retailers to maximize their fresh item profitability, which includes tracking methodologies that let companies pinpoint a specific product to a specific food recall.
Bizerba will also be demonstrating integration with Canadian-based Invatron, which reveals how retailers can manage scale monitoring, PLU and price management, multi-media distribution and more via Invatron’s Scale Management Solution.
Additionally, ARTS will welcome individual demos at the Pavilion throughout the event including Alvarez & Marsal, key contributors to the development of the ARTS Data Warehouse model; CA’s ERwin will demonstrate their modeling tool that powers the ARTS Data Models; Cisco will be showing their Compliance Solution for PCI and testing visitors’ knowledge of PCI compliance; DiCentral, a leader in standards-based B2B supply chain integration, will demonstrate real-time exchange of data and; MicroStrategy will showcase their Alert Mobile Commerce and Loyalty Platform.
NCR will also show how they leverage ARTS POSlog and Digital Receipt standards, as well as the ARTS Operational Data Model; PAR Technology’s EverServ 7000 POS hardware will be on display as they demonstrate EverServ SureCheck, a software-as-a-service based solution that helps retailers save money on labor costs; Prism Skylabs will demonstrate how retailers can use the video cameras they already have to remotely conduct visual merchandising and create visualizations of customer dwell time and even product lift.
RHISCOM will display their AUTOMATON, an automatic and unattended regression testing tool for POS applications, and; SAP will present their Mobile Payment Integration with POS and explaining the value of the ARTS Payment Integration White Paper.
The ARTS Standards Pavilion will also host a book signing at 2:00 PM on Monday January 14th 2013 for ‘The Digital Wave’ written by Michael Saylor, CEO and Chairman of MicroStrategy. The ARTS Payments Integration white paper, the new ARTS Business Process models and the ARTS Customer Data Project will also be available for review.
