Global steel giant ArcelorMittal has announced that it has completed a €7 million investment to produce a lightweight steel product called Usibor at the galvanizing line at its Florange steel plant located in France. It is the first line to produce extra-wide Usibor for the automotive industry.
The new line is able to produce lightweight automotive steel in widths of up to 1,850 mm, larger than the 1,550 mm currently available on the market. ArcelorMittal said that there are also plans for additional investments of €55 million to further strengthen the competitiveness of the line.
