Subaru, the automobile manufacturing division of Fuji Heavy Industries(FHI),has recalled about 630,000 vehicles in the US,due to a problem in the puddle light.
The recall includes cars and sports utility vehicles(SUVs)belonging to Outback,Tribeca and Forester models that are manufactured between 2006 and 2012.
The puddle lights used to lighten the ground near the car at night helping users to enter or exit the vehicle, are reported to short-circuit with the electrolytic moisture that could heat up resulting in fire and smoke.
The company claims to recognize the problem in 2007,while making changes to the design and starting to evaluate the problem in 2011,which is expected to be fixed during the recall.
