The Successor to The Heroic Lexus LFA Was Released

The successor to the heroic Lexus LFA has been released, though it's not quite what we had in mind.

With the final 412kW/480Nm 4.8-litre V10-powered supercar rolling down the renowned LFA Works production line in December, the skilled workers turned their attention to the Lexus F Sport Roadbike – the Japanese brand's first-ever two-wheeler.

At one million yen ($11,100), the high-tech lightweight F Sport Roadbike costs a fraction of the LFA's $700K asking price, yet is also five times more exclusive, with just 100 produced between January and March inside the specialist division of the Motomachi assembly plant in Toyota City.

Lexus says the Roadbike embodies the "principles and philosophies" of its supercar predecessor.

"To ensure the highest level of Lexus quality, the workshop that created the LFA was chosen as the most appropriate place to assemble the Lexus F Sport Roadbike," the bicycle's brochure reads.

"The stage is set for a new chapter in Lexus' history."

While LFA Works contains all the equipment required to manufacturer the bike's carbonfibre components, Automotive News reports most of its lightweight parts were sourced from Taiwan, though Lexus says each piece was polished by hand for three hours for a premium finish.

The 22-speed F Sport Roadbike weighs just 6.8kg, features an electronically controlled front derailleur and shift levers inspired by the paddleshifters of a Formula One car.

Lexus has reportedly taken 35 orders for the special edition F Sport Roadbike.
