According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in 2012 Turkey's coking coal imports totaled 28.4 million metric tons, increasing 25 percent compared to 2011.
In December last year, Turkey's coking coal imports rose by 46.6 percent year on year to 3.06 million mt and decreased by 3.6 percent from November, in which the country's coking coal imports had reached their highest monthly volume in 2012.
Turkey's coking coal imports from Colombia in December last year amounted to 955,782 mt, constituting the highest monthly volume from Colombia in 2012, while imports from Russia in December amounted to 899,125 metric tons, falling by 26.25 percent month on month, following the relatively high monthly level recorded in November.
