Volvo Trucks Has Developed a New Emergency Braking System

Swedish truck maker Volvo Trucks has developed a new emergency braking system, Collision Warning with Emergency Brake that comes with early collision warning.

The new braking system is designed to help drivers avoid or minimise the rear-end collisions and prevent severe accidents caused by inattention.

Collision Warning with Emergency Brake, which is optimised for both stationary and moving vehicles, comes equipped with a radar and a camera that work together to identify and monitor vehicles in front.

Volvo said the new braking system, which will be available on the new Volvo FH Series, will prevent a collision with a moving target at relative speeds of up to 70 km/h.

When the system detects a vehicle in the truck's path will hit at its current speed, the warning system activates the emergency braking system and does everything possible to bring the truck to a complete stop.Volvo Trucks Traffic & Product Safety director Carl Johan Almqvist in majority of cases, the initial warning signals will attract the driver's attention.

"And in the rare case that they don't, the emergency braking system will still help prevent a serious accident," Almqvist said.
