Natural Gas Output in The US Lower 48 States Increased by 0.4%

Natural gas output in the US Lower 48 states rose 0.4%, or 320,000 Mcf/d in October compared with September, the US Energy Information Administration said Monday in its monthly gas gross production report.

The report had been delayed by a week because of the New Year's holiday.

Total US Lower 48 gas production in October was 73.54 Bcf/d, compared with a revised 73.22 Bcf/d in September.

Other states contributed the largest volumetric gain at 1.8%, or 430,000 Mcf/d, with EIA noting that "operators reported new wells coming online in the Marcellus and Bakken shale plays."

Additionally, Gulf of Mexico output increased 9.5%, or 350,000 Mcf/d, as production resumed in the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac, but Texas, Louisiana and Wyoming saw production fall as "many operators cited shut-ins and maintenance issues," the EIA said.

Total US production in October was at 82.93 Bcf/d, up 2.5% from a revised 80.93 Bcf/d in September.
