Nestlé has expanded its manufacturing facility in Karacabey, western Turkey, with an investment of CHF9.9m, while creating an additional 100 jobs.

Opened in 1989, the facility will now produce Maggi brand bouillon products for the increasing demand in the local market.

The new production lines incorporate the advanced technology to produce 1,200 packages a minute, generating a total of 7,300 tons of bouillon per year from 2014.

Nestlé executive vice president Nandu Nandkishore said, "Turkey is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic markets in Asia, Oceania and Africa.

"This investment makes the site one of Nestlé's largest production facilities in the region."

The first factory at the Karacabey site opened in 1989 and the second plant, which is owned and operated by Nestlé-General Mills joint venture Cereal Partners Worldwide, opened in 2011.

Nestlé entered the Turkish market with a new office in Istanbul in 1909 and now has four facilities. The company sells more than 800 products and employs 3,800 people across the country.
