Salad Mix of Dole Food Has Been Recalled for Listeria Contamination Concerns

Dole Food,a US-based producer of fruit and fresh vegetables,has issued a multi-state recall of its ready-to-eat salad mix in the US,as the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The voluntary recall was initiated after a test conducted by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture identified the bacterium in a sample of its Dole American Blend salad.

The product affected by the recall is Dole American Blend salad in 12 oz.bags,coded A275208A or B,with use-by date of October 17 and UPC 7143000933.It was distributed in ten US states-Illinois,Indiana,Maine,Missouri,New Jersey,New York,Ohio,Pennsylvania,Tennessee and Wisconsin.

No illnesses have been reported in association with the recall.No other salads are included in the recall.Consumers who have purchased this product have been advised to discard it.

Dole Food noted that customer service representatives are contacting retailers and are in the process of confirming that the recalled product is being removed from the stream of commerce.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious or life-threatening food borne illness in a person who consumes a food item contaminated with it.Symptoms of infection may include fever,muscle aches,gastro intestinal symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea.
