The system, gives Apple Store customers the ability to customise iDevice content without removing its original packaging.
Customers can choose an iDevice, take it to an in-store kiosk, to which it can be connected, then customise its content with iTunes, Apps and more. The system would be geared towards gifting and the customer will also be able to print out a custom label with a message for the recipient.
California-based duo Fletcher Rothkopf and Teodor Dabov are credited by Apple as the inventors of the patent application which was originally filed in 2011.
The patent said: "The method may include activating the electronic device through a packaging that substantially surrounds the electronic device, without substantially damaging or removing the packaging."
