Pennsylvania American Water Has Completed Upgrades at The Arlington Booster Station

Pennsylvania American Water has completed upgrades at the Arlington Booster Station to better serve customers in Pittsburgh. Located in the Arlington area, the booster station project is a part of Pennsylvania American Water's $101m investment plan to improve service and safety at its Pittsburgh water treatment facilities, which include renovations to the E. H. Aldrich station in Elrama, Washington County. Pittsburgh City councilman Bruce Kraus said, "We applaud Pennsylvania American Water for investing in upgrades that will help to protect the health and safety of our communities. " As part of the project, the company oversaw installation of new chemical storage and feed facilities, which replace gas chlorine with liquid chlorine to address concerns associated with chlorine gas storage. Under a partnership with Pennsylvania American Water, Pittsburgh City councilman and project neighbors assisted the company in the reconstruction of the infrastructure. The booster station helps pump water to key service areas, and ensures fire protection in the event that the Hays Mine Plant is unavailable during maintenance or times of emergency, the company said.
