Canada-based Guelph Food Technology Center has merged with US-based certification services provider NSF International.
GFTC stated that the move will benefit its customers from NSF food safety training, auditing and certification services such as seafood, organic and global food safety certifications.
Following the merger, the new organization will be known as NSF-GFTC. It will operate in Guelph, Ontario, and will provide solutions to Canadian farmers, processors and manufacturers.
NSF-GFTC will now export Canadian food safety expertise to other countries, utilising NSF's global presence. NSF has operations in more than 150 countries.
GFTC is a provider of food safety, training, quality and technical services for the food and beverage industry to help processors and manufacturers improve their products.
NSF International writes standards, tests and certifies products for the food, water and consumer goods industries. The company's Global Food Division provides accredited services across supply chain sectors including agriculture, produce, processing, distribution, dairy, seafood, retail and restaurants.
