In March this year, French crude steel production amounted to 1.337 million mt, down by 9.6 percent year on year, constituting the 10th successive month of decline on year-on-year basis, according to the latest data released by the French Steel Federation (FFA).
In March, crude steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAFs) fell 21.5 percent year on year to 470,300 mt, while crude steel production using blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 867,200 mt, falling by 1.5 percent year on year.
In the January-March period this year, French crude steel output decreased by 4.1 percent year on year to 3,978,450 mt. In the given period, EAF output fell 13.2 percent to 1.45 million mt, while BF output increased by 2.1 percent to 2.52 million mt, both year on year.
The FFA also noted that, compared to the respective periods in 2008, domestic crude steel production in March this year was down 19.7 percent, while crude steel output in January-March of the current year indicated a decline of 18.3 percent.
