According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in February this year Turkey's rebar (including round bar) exports amounted to 660,466 metric tons, increasing by 19.4 percent compared to the previous month and down 19 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $393 million, rising by 20.8 percent compared to the previous month and down 24.6 percent from February 2012.
Turkey's rebar exports to the European Union amounted to 21,893 mt in February, down 64.5 percent month on month following the 48 month-high in January. However, rebar exports to the EU were more than double in February of the current year compared to the same month of the previous year. The country's rebar exports to North America amounted to 61,843 mt, recording a fall of 47.9 percent year on year but almost triple compared to the previous month. In February, Turkey exported 335,150 mt of rebar to the Middle East, its main rebar destination, rising 12.4 percent over January and up 13.3 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, for the first two months of 2013, Turkey's rebar exports stood at 1.2 million metric tons, down 16.5 percent year on year, while the total revenue from these exports amounted to $713 million, decreasing by 22.5 percent as compared to the same period of 2012.
