VinPerfect, a California-based maker of SmartCaps range of oxy-regulating closures for the wine industry, has expanded its portfolio with the addition of Medium Plus and Light.
Every wine has an optimal oxygen level at which the wine tastes great. Any less or more oxygen in the bottle would affect its quality.
SmartCaps will allow winemakers to choose the oxygen performance level that best suits their wines.
Each of the new wine closure has its own highly consistent oxygen ingress rate, claims the company.
The company released its first wine closure Medium in fall 2011 and since then has been working with different winemakers to test the prototypes with different oxygen rates.
VinPerfect founder and CEO Tim Keller said they have been very careful and very results-oriented in the roll-out of these products.
"These latest liners have been in beta tests with our commercial partners for over a year and it is surprising how much of a quality difference you can taste within just a few months after bottling," Keller added.
"We now have enough 'on-bottle' experience with these oxygen rates to offer additional options for lighter and heavier wine styles."
