In 2012, the total completed shipbuilding output in China was 60.21 million dwt, down 21.4 percent year on year, according to data released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
In addition, in the given year China’s new ship orders received amounted to 20.41 million dwt, down 43.6 percent, while as of the end of 2012 total ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises came to 106.95 million dwt, down 28.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
