Reportedly, Chongqing Iron and Steel Co. (Chongqing Steel), a subsidiary of Chinese steelmaker Chongqing Iron and Steel (Group) CO. announced on February 7th that it produced 481,739 tons of finished steel in January, a record up 15.05% compared to January, 2012 and increasing by 9.46% from the previous month. Chongqing Steel produced a total of 4,705,600 tons of finished steel in 2012, falling by 11.8% compare with 2011. However, the company produced 440,100 tons of finished steel in December, surging by 68.17% from the previous month and up 6.04% compared to the same month in 2011.
