Dallas – Samsung Mobile launched a free and ad-free music service for users of select Galaxy smartphones.

Milk Music, powered by Slacker, delivers more than 200 genre-based and curated stations with more than 13 million songs.

The service also lets users create custom stations and allows for six song skips per hour per station.

Milk is available to download on Google Play for the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Mega and Galaxy S4 Mini activated on any carrier's network and sold through any retail channel. Milk will also be available for the Galaxy S5 when it becomes available in April.

The company said it would soon offer "unique music programming" from top-selling and emerging artists exclusively through Milk.

Milk works like this: The user interface features a dial design and requires no login. The dial displays up to nine genres of stations. A Spotlight feature offers a continuous curated selection of songs and albums handpicked by what Samsung calls "music tastemakers and influencers." The My Stations feature lets users create personal stations based on favorite songs and albums.
