According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Indian motor vehicle production in September this year increased 8.6 percent as compared to September 2012 with 1,816,316 vehicles produced.
In the first half of the current Indian fiscal year (started April 1), motor vehicle sales in India increased slightly by 1.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, while the country's passenger vehicle sales during the period in question declined by 5.2 percent and the commercial vehicles segment registered a fall of 15.3 percent in sales, both on year-on-year basis.
Meanwhile, in the first six months of the current fiscal year India's total motor vehicle exports increased by 4.54 percent year on year. Passenger vehicle exports registered a year-on-year increase of 12.35 percent in April-September this year, while commercial vehicle exports decreased by 19.1 percent, both compared to April-September 2012.
