Brazilian Sales of Civil Construction Materials Fell 13.6 Percent in June

Brazilian sales of civil construction materials fell 13.6 percent in June, year-on-year, according to the country’s construction materials industry association (Abramat).

According to Abramat, sales decreased 11 percent in June over May.

Within the last six months, sales diminished 4.6 percent compared to a year ago, and 0.9 percent in the last twelve months. Earlier this year, analysts projected a 3 percent increase in sales for 2014.

Basic materials sales decreased 16.7 percent in June, year on year, and 14.3 percent month over month. Domestic sales of finishing materials fell 9.7 percent in June, year on year, and 7.1 percent over May.

The level of jobs in the civil construction industry increased 3.2 percent in June compared to 2013.
