A Citroen DS3 has formed the base of a custom-made diorama constructed to celebrate the French company’s success in the World Rally Championship (WRC), thanks to the partnership of nine-time consecutive world champions Sebastien Loeb and co-driver Daniel Elena.
Featuring 1:43-scale model replicas of nine different rally terrains, the diorama – moulded to the top of a Citroen DS3 – shows the ice and snow from Rally Finland to the ruins of the Acropolis Rally with each stage getting its own model of one of the nine championship-winning cars dating back to the Citroen Xsara from the duo’s first title in 2004.
Attention to detail has been ruthless with the model that took two months to complete, even featuring dust clouds, flowers, shrubbery, cameramen and spectators.
Citroen UK’s director of communications, Marc Raven, said the manufacturer wanted to create something just as unique as the achievements of Loeb and Elena.
“Sebastien and Daniel have a fantastic history with Citroen and have achieved an incredible feat that is unlikely to be replicated.”
Citroen is planning to tour the model across its dealer network as well as display the work at various events in the coming months.
During Loeb’s domination of the WRC from 2004 to 2012 he piloted the Citroen Xsara, Citroen C4 and Citroen DS3 to victory.
