Pilkington will lead an Innovation Masterclass on fire-resistant glass at the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) Woodworking Conference 2013.
The conference - also known as the BWF Members' Day – will take place on 25th April at Holywell Park, Loughborough University. The day is specifically focused at developing and preparing joinery and woodworking companies on the big issues affecting their businesses.
As well as addressing a range of topics including CE Marking, building regulations, health and safety and lean manufacturing, there will be an Innovation Masterclass on fire-resistant glazing from Steve Bond, Customer Support Manager for Pilkington's fire protection business in the UK.
The Masterclass will explain how ordinary glass reacts in a fire situation and highlight how fire-resistant glass performs differently. It will also look at how glass manufacturers have developed new technologies to provide a wide range of glass solutions. It will also reinforce the message that, to ensure the expected fire performance is achieved, fire-resistant glass must always be specified as part of a tested and approved glazing system and installed by specialists.

The Fire Masterclass will help those companies to understand the complex area of fire protection and provide them with the information needed to ensure that the right glass is specified in the right place."
