Kingsmill to Introduce Traffic Light Labeling for Purchasing Bakery Products

Kingsmill is set to introduce new traffic light labeling on its packaging from January 2014.

The new labeling will be applied to its range of sliced bread, rolls and breads of the world, as part of the company's commitment in the government's Public Health Responsibility Deal front-of-pack labeling pledge.

The labeling will help consumers make informed choices during purchase of bakery products by demonstrating if a product is high, medium, or low in fat, saturated fats, sugar, and salt through the colors red, amber or green respectively.

Director of brands at Allied Bakeries Darren Grivvell comments in this regard, "We are dedicated to openness and transparency about the nutritional value of our products.

"We currently have front-of-pack GDAs to help consumers enjoy Kingsmill products as part of a balanced diet. This new step to color code will help consumers see the nutrition information at a glance."
