The first images of the upcoming Peugeot 2008 have been leaked two months out from the crossover’s anticipated debut at the 2013 Geneva motor show in March.
Seen on French automotive website L’argus, the leaked images reveal the production version of the Peugeot 2008 compact SUV that holds true to the French manufacturer’s Peugeot 2008 concept seen at last year’s Paris motor show – with the exception of the fluorescent paint, ultra-thin wing mirrors, and the addition of door handles.
With a front grille and bonnet that maintain the current Peugeot family face – as seen on the Peugeot 208 – the 2008’s front-end features headlights intersected by the car’s front bumper with inset foglights below. The rear-end also sports stylised tail-lights that flow from the rear quarter into the tailgate and are joined by a roof spoiler. Prominent roof racks also appear to have made the transition from concept car to production model.
While Peugeot Australia’s Jaedene Hudson told CarAdvice the Peugeot 2008 will reach Australia in October/November, details remain undisclosed, with the SUV likely to share its range of diesel and petrol engines with the smaller 208, including the hatch’s 115kW/240Nm turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder unit.
