Turkey's Pig Iron Imports Rose 25.3 Percent Compared to The Previous Month

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in November 2012 Turkey's pig iron imports rose 25.3 percent compared to the previous month, after a month-on-month decrease of 31.3 percent in October, continuing the fluctuating trend seen since May 2012, and were down 14.1 percent compared to November 2011, totaling 98,171 metric tons.

In the first 11 months of 2012, Turkey's pig iron imports totaled 1.23 million metric tons, increasing 28.4 percent compared to January-November 2011.

Pig iron imports from Ukraine in the period in question amounted to 815,000 metric tons, almost double compared to the same period of the previous year, while imports from Russia, Turkey's second largest pig iron source, amounted to 348,690 mt in the first 11 months of 2012, down 13 percent year on year.
