SICK Launches New SICK KTM That Is Suitable for Commercial Wrapping and Labeling Operation

Sensor solutions provider in the UK, SICK has announced the launch of the new SICK KTM, which is suitable for packaging, food and drink, cosmetics, printing and other commercial wrapping and labeling operations.

According to the company, with the new contrast sensor, black or white, color, matte or shiny print marks are detected on a wide range of packaging media, including reflective materials such as foils.

SICK Imaging & Measurement product manager David Hannaby said, "It provides precise detection of print marks to support high-speed packaging processes such as cutting packaging to length from a pre-printed roll, or positioning and aligning cans, tubes, labels and pre-printed forms."

To cope with a range of shades, the sensor also has a resolution of 20 grey tones, and helps to detect low contrast levels. It is available in the Core and Prime variants.

With its white LED, the KTM Core offers a better level of performance for standard applications with manual adjustment through an integrated potentiometer.

The KTM Prime uses three-color LED technology to offer detection reliability for challenging materials with high-gloss surfaces or low levels of contrast.

All KTM Prime sensors are claimed to possess a teach-in function so that material flow does not need to be disturbed. Further benefits include visualization of the signal quality as well as the output of quality characteristics.
