The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production rose 0.4 percent in the week ending April 27, after falling 1.2 percent in the previous week.
Total raw steel production in the United States was 1,866,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 0.4 percent increase from the 1,858,000 nt produced in the previous week and a 7.3 percent drop from the 2,014,000 nt produced during the same week a year ago.
The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 77.9 percent in the week ending April 27, compared to 77.6 percent in the previous week and 80.9 percent in the same week last year.
