Taiwan-based crystalline silicon solar cell makers generally saw orders increase in August, according to industry sources in Taiwan.
The sequential increases resulted from the makers reducing quotes to US$0.33/W for polycrystalline models in August, the sources said, adding a large portion of the August orders came from China where demand was rising.
First-tier Taiwan-based makers, including Motech Industries, Neo Solar Power and Gintech Energy, saw utilization rates rise to over 85% in August and second-tier ones to about 80%, the sources indicated.
Orders from Europe are expected to also rebound in September and Taiwan-based cell makers will see further sequential growth in orders in September, the sources said.
