Canarm Has Announced a Voluntary Recall of The Semi-Flush Ceiling Light

Ontario's Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) says Canarm Ltd. has announced a voluntary recall of the semi-flush ceiling light (21 Collection). You should stop using the recalled product immediately.

The recall involves 4225 units—model ISF253A03ORB—that were manufactured in China, imported by Canarm Ltd. and sold by Home Hardware Stores across Canada between 2010 and 2012.

When the unit is being mounted, it is possible for you to screw in the main mounting stud too far, which can result in damage to the protective coating on internal wires, causing a potential fire or shock hazard. Only one incident has been confirmed: a user complained that the stem pinched electrical wires, giving him a shock.

You should stop using the ceiling lights immediately, and tighten the hex lock nut provided to prevent the stem from contacting electrical wire. Or call for replacement stem that does not require locking nut.
