Swedish manufacturer of commercial vehicles Scania has obtained an order to supply 709 buses to Mostransavto, the public transport operator in Moscow, Russia in collaboration with the GAZ Group.
Under the collaboration the company will deliver chassis modules whereas the GAZ will complete the bodywork for the buses, which are scheduled for delivery during 2013.
Scania Russia managing director Hans Tardell said: "Putting such a large number of buses into operation means that the Scania brand will receive wide exposure in Russia."
The buses will be used for transport service in Sochi during the first quarter of 2014 and will serve in Moscow thereafter.
Scania in collaboration with GAZ Group has developed two buses for intercity service and one for occasional service, all under its GOLAZ branded buses that are built on chassis and powertrain components from Scania.
