Benzene prices showed upward trend in Asia and Europe while they were steady in US in the week ending February 9, 2013.
In Korea, Benzene prices increased last week, due to strong buying sentiment in the downstream market. In the early days of the week, prices were at US$ 1390/ton lower by US$ 20/ton, as compared to the same period of its previous week. During the week, prices were assessed in the range of US$ 1390-1425/ton FOB Korea.
In Japan, Benzene prices showed similar trend as Korea. Speculators assessed the spot prices of Benzene in the range of US$ 1395-1430/ton CFR Japan.
In India, Benzene prices showed similar trend as Korea and Japan. Initially, prices were at US$ 1400/ton lower by US$ 20/ton, as compared to the same period of its previous week. Benzene prices were spotted in the range of US$ 1400-1435/ton CFR India, during the week.
Benzene prices went up in Europe and were spotted in the range of US$ 1405-1440/ton FOB Rotterdam during the reporting week. Contract prices for February were settled at US$ 1408/ton FOB NWE.
In US, Benzene prices remained stable last week. Prices were assessed in the range of 475-480 (cents/gallon) FOB US. Contract prices for February were settled at US$ 1408/ton FOB NWE.
