China exported 780,000 mt of coal in March, down 19.6% year on year, preliminary figures released by the General Administration of Customs Wednesday showed.
Total exports in the first three months reached 2.04 million mt, down 36.1% year on year.
The March export volume represented a month-on-month surge of 47% from exports of 530,000 mt in February.
The General Administration of Customs did not release coal import figures on its website.
According to a Thursday report by state media Securities Times citing customs data, China imported 80 million mt of coal in the first three months of 2013, down 30.1% year on year.
The report did not give any import figures for the month of March.
