Taiwan-based Radiant Opto-Electronics shipped 8.143 million LED backlight units (BLU) in April, dropping 22.68% on month and consisting of 7.008 million units used in notebooks, 1.023 million units used in monitors, 62,000 units used in TVs and 50,000 units for other use.
Additionally, Radiant recorded consolidated revenues of NT$4.715 billion (US$158 million) for April, decreasing 24.02% on month and 29.70% on year, those of NT$22.197 billion for January-April, slipping on year by 8.97%. Radiant also expects a 5% on-quarter decline in revenues during the second quarter.
Radiant expects its performance to decrease slightly in May and later rebound in June when the company expects to gain orders for BLUs used in 9.7-inch tablet products. The company also expects about 55% of its revenues to come in the second half of 2013.
