Mexico's Apparent Steel Consumption in 2012 Rises by 15.3% Year on Year

Mexico’s apparent steel consumption amounted to 24 million tons in 2012, rising by 15.3% year on year, according to statistics released by the Planning Commission of the Chamber of Industry Iron and Steel (CANACERO). Meanwhile, CANACERO predicted that Mexico’s steel consumption would be at 25.178 million tons, growing by 4.7% from a year ago. In 2012, the country’s steel production decreased by 0.7% from a year ago to 17.973 million tons. It’s forecasted that the country’s steel production would be at 18.641 million ~ 19.340 million tons in 2013.
