Jeanologia, a developer and producer of sustainable finishing technology for denim jeans will launch its latest innovation, ‘Light Scraper’ at ‘Denim By’ trade show in Barcelona.
Jeanologia says Light Scraper is a new optical technology that modulates Jeanologia laser and allows replicating worn or scraped looks and create authentic virtual slubs on jeans.
“Thus, with the same fabric, Light Scraper creates open end denim, ring spun denim, crosshatch or slub, by just pressing a button,” it adds.
“The technology will revolutionize the way jeans are manufactured by eliminating fabric inventories and by reducing by four weeks the time to market,” the denim jeans finishing technology developer explains.
Enrique Silla, president of Jeanologia informs, “For the first time, we have been able to clone the authentic look of antique denim on a standard denim fabric.”
The laser equipped with Light Scraper also incorporates virtual sandpaper that allows the replacement of hand sanding or manual scraping.
A million workers worldwide work using manual scraping, which puts their health at risk, which is very harmful, since it causes chronic tendinitis, muscle problems and breathing difficulties.
Jeanologia expects that the new technology will help the current use of hazardous manual scraping to be eliminated in just two years from now.
According to Enrique Silla, it is the responsibility of the denim jeans finishing industry to protect the health and safety of thousands of workers, reduce environmental impact and promote innovation.
“The future of the industry becomes more professional, when it adopts latest denim fabric finishing technology,” he adds.
Jeanologia has invested €3 million and three years in research of this technology, developed by a multidisciplinary team of engineers at the R&D centres of the company in Spain.
Jeanologia has also developed the first Environmental Impact Measuring (EIM) software to help brands and garment finishers to minimize their footprint and become more sustainable.
EIM has helped Swedish apparel retailer, H&M to create its recently launched ‘Conscious Denim’ collection and helped it measure sustainable parameters. (AR)
