Rockwell Automation OEM partner AFA Systems has developed a new HD-CMA continuous motion autoload cartoner for potato chip producers.
HD-CMA machine holds capacity to run 320 products per minute, cartoning one bag of chips per carton.
The product is clocked into the servo pack through a series of metering belts at the infeed. Dual servopack infeed conveyors are said to accurately collate the bags at a high speed
The new cartoner takes the support of Codian Delta 3 robot, which will automatically place bags onto a continuous motion bucket conveyor. The robot is provided by Rockwell Automation Encompass product Partner Codian Robotics.
Codian Delta 3 robot and other machine’s actions are controlled by Rockwell Automation’s AllenBradley ControlLogix L71 programmable automation controller (PAC).
A rotary feeder simultaneously opens the cartons, which is installed with AllenBradley Kinetix 5500 servo drives and VPL lowinertia servo motors that manage the equipment’s motion axes.
The barrel cam loading system will use a series of pushers to effectively move products into cartons.
AllenBradley PanelView Plus 700 humanmachine interface will help workers to manage and monitor all machinery operations.
AFA Systems president Paul Langen said: "The machine’s continuous motion design allows our customers to run the machine at higher speeds, increasing their productivity and potential profitability.”
AFA Systems provides machines that can be used to produce package and carton products in various sizes, which can be used in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and household product industries.
