Foremost Graphics Invests in KBA Rapida 106 Sheetfed Press

US-based Foremost Graphics has invested in KBA Rapida 106 41-inch sheetfed press in order to enhance its production operations.

The company has installed the press at its newly remodeled 80,000ft² facility located outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The new ERP software and additional material handling equipment at the facility will help to improve workflows and share resources with its existing corporate headquarters in the city of Walker, Michigan.

Two year ago, Foremost Graphics had entered into packaging business through the acquisition of Cedar Springs-based Display Pack.

With 19 printing and inline finishing units, the KBA Rapida 106 provides production speeds up to 20,000 sheets/h.

Suitable for medium formats, the press can be used ranging from lightweight papers, heavy board, plastic films to corrugated substrates.

The press can be used in various applications, including single and multiple coatings, intermediate drying, numbering, perforating, cold foil application with various levels of automation.

KBA Rapida 106 features VariDryBlue dryers, HR-UV or future-oriented LED-UV technologies. Its DriveTronic SPC helps to change all the plates on the press simultaneously.

In addition, DriveTronic SFC enables to change the coating formes parallel to other makeready processes.

Foremost Graphics president Paul Kelly said: “We’ve invested millions of dollars in new equipment, including the KBA press, as well as in a new facility.

“Our goal is to facilitate the strong expansion in the packaging segment of our business, where we see equal growth opportunities in market segments including health and beauty, automotive and food processing for our national client base.”
