LED Light Bulb Penetration Rate in Japan Is Likely to Reach 60% in 2013

LED light bulb penetration rate in Japan is likely to reach 60% in 2013. LED light bulb commercialization grew rapidly in Japan, but because the lifespan of products is around 40,000 hours, market growth has begun to stagnate.

However, the global market is expected to grow and Digitimes Research forecasts 2013 global LED light bulb shipments to reach 842 million units, representing a sequential increase of 151%.

Digitimes Research predicts the mainstream lumen specification to reach 810, accounting for 52.3% of products. In addition, 53.6% of LED light bulbs will have a beam angle in the range of 180-270-degree while 49.5% of products will have a brightness efficiency in the range of 70-90lm/W.
