Ultrasound World Will Take Place May 6 Through 10, 2013

Ultrasound World, a major forum for ultrasound technology organized by UE Systems Inc., will take place May 6 through 10, 2013 at the Hilton Clearwater Beach in Clearwater Beach, FL.

Entering its ninth year, the program will bring together industry leaders to share best practices in condition-based monitoring, reliability and ultrasound technology with presentations and courses covering a wide range of topics.

Among them:

• Vernon E. Guidry of DuPont, in a talk titled ‘Tales from the Road: Ultrasonic Leak Detection Survey Experiences at Industrial Plants’, will provide a summary of DuPont survey findings and insight regarding key elements of DuPont steam and compressed gas Best Practices.

• Stephen Mikolajcik of Cargill, Inc. will speak on the topic, ‘Why Don’t my Maintenance Costs go Down?’ In his presentation, Mikolajcik will use plain language and actual data from plant applications to demonstrate several of the areas where savings are offset and how competing efforts, both positive and negative, can mask large gains acquired by the use of proactive maintenance methods.

Other topics will include using ultrasound combined with thermography to troubleshoot in the paper industry, improving the reliability of fluid power systems, enhancing predictive maintenance, the cost, detection, estimating and correction of steam leakage, and the basics of electrical wave file analysis.

The Keynoter

The keynote address titled ‘Leadership + Reliability = True Competitive Advantage’ will be delivered by South Carolina state Sen. Paul Campbell, Jr. (Rep., Berkeley County).
Sen. Campbell, recently retired president of the southeast region for Alcoa Primary Metals, will discuss the two necessary ingredients to create manufacturing competitive advantage: great leadership and asset reliability.

Calling Ultrasound World “a truly international event,” organizers said it provides a venue for presenters and attendees from around the world to network and share their knowledge on how they’ve effectively utilized ultrasound technology to improve plant efficiencies and reduce operating expenses with the technology.
