North American rigid packaging manufacturer Placon has completed the acquisition of Plastic Packaging, a rigid plastic container producer in the US.
The 100,000ft2 location of Plastic Packaging in West Springfield will bring the total number of operated facilities to five, according to Placon.
Placon CEO Dan Mohs said that most of the company's customers use both thermoformed and injection molded packaging.
"By integrating these technologies, we will broaden our food packaging portfolio and provide our customers with more options and greater value," Mohs added.
The transaction is said to be indicative of Placon's strategic plan to expand its breadth and depth of capabilities across various foodservice market segments.
Plastic Packaging, which was established in 1954, manufactures injection molded polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) containers, cups, tubs, pails and lids. It also provides decorating services for hot to frozen foods in the foodservice and food processing industries.
