According to statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), the country’s exports of stainless steel products totaled 1,176,513 tons in 2012, falling by 6.4% in a year ago.
The dropped exports of stainless steel products were caused by the slowdown of global economy and strong Japanese Yen.
Meanwhile, the total exports of special steel products including stainless steel products amounted to 7,852,004 tons in 2012, rising by 1.8% year on year.
In December alone, the country’s exports of stainless steel products decreased by 6.4% from a month ago to 89,259 tons.
