Taiwan-based photovoltaic (PV) conductive paste maker Giga Solar Materials will establish a 5MWp PV system in Palau, with power purchase agreement to be signed with Palau Public Utilities Corp (PPUC) by the end of 2013 and completion of the PV system scheduled for the end of 2014, according to the Chinese-language newspaper Commercial Times (CT).
Giga Solar and a few Taiwan-based PV consulting companies formed a consortium to vie for PPUC project in July 2013, CT indicated. The 5MWp PV system can generate electricity of 10 million kWh a year to help the Palau government attain the goal of having renewable energy account for 20% of total power supply by 2020, CT said.
