The renovation of the famous old Regal Cinema in Melton Mowbray is well underway and it has been revealed that LED lights will be playing a part in the renovation of the building.
It is currently undergoing a £130,000 refurbishment and it is due to open back up to the general public in March.
The family behind the new venture are Amanda and Tony Mundin - who already run The Ritz Cinema in Belper - along with their son Jacob and his fiance Bryony.
Since taking over the cinema, the family has stripped out the auditorium and begun repainting it to tie in with their art-deco theme.
The foyer has also been stripped and its three original windows have now been exposed to help brighten up the area, the Melton Times reports.
As well as this, the cinema will gain new seating, including 15 luxury chairs and five two-seater sofas, alongside crushed velvet curtains to cover the new 25-foot screen.
It has also been announced that LED lighting will be installed along stairways and aisles to allow for easier access, which should help provide energy savings for the company.
The sign outside the cinema will also be illuminated by LED light bulbs and will include chrome and cream lettering against a black Perspex background.
A planning application for this sign was submitted in December to Melton Council and a decision on this is expected to be made during the first week of March.
Mr Mundin said everything has moved along very quickly in the last few months and they can't wait for the cinema to reopen again.
He told the news provider: "We didn't expect to be where we are now, the contractors have been a fantastic help. They are not only supporting us with the refurbishment, they have also been coming up with some great ideas to improve on our plans."
