Hypersolar Is Planning to Develop Carbon Free Renewable Hydrogen Gas

HyperSolar, a developer of a technology to produce renewable hydrogen and natural gas using water and solar power, is planning to develop a cleaner and greener way to produce carbon free, renewable hydrogen gas to power vehicles.

The company said that it will develop the carbon free hydrogen using the power of the Sun and wastewater, rather than the using the conventional fossil fuel, such as natural gas, as a feedstock.

HyperSolar CEO Tim Young said the world is short on free hydrogen and unfortunately, to make up for this shortage, the world uses fossil fuels to produce hydrogen gas.

"We are developing a cleaner and greener way to produce this high value product," Young said.

"HyperSolar's hydrogen is completely carbon free, made by using the power of the Sun and wastewater. Not only are we mitigating the high cost of wastewater treatment, but we are creating the ultimate clean fuel."

The company said that the hydrogen can be used for fuel cells for transportation, which convert the chemical energy from a fuel into electricity through a chemical reaction with oxygen or another oxidizing agent by using hydrogen as the most common fuel.

"Powering cars with fossil fuel based hydrogen is not sustainable, not renewable and not much cleaner than today's fuels. We believe our low cost zero carbon hydrogen is the right way to realize a true hydrogen economy," Young said.

Hypersolar said that the carmanufacturers were waiting for the hydrogen fuel cells and infrastructure technologies to be developed in the future.
