US-based Imperial Bag & Paper has acquired Florida-based Peninsular Paper Products for an undisclosed sum.
It is the ninth acquisition under the leadership of Imperial CEO and President Robert Tillis and Jason Tillis, respectively.
Both the companies distribute disposable food service and janitorial supplies. The acquisition allows Imperial to expand its reach in a new geographical location, allowing it to expand geographically in the Southeast.
Founded by James D. Clarke in Tampa, Florida in 1911, Peninsular Paper is a wholesale distributor of janitorial paper supplies, commercial grade cleaning products, and food service packaging for restaurants, grocery stores, and specialty markets, as well as industrial packaging.
The company has expanded from a localized, horse and pull-cart operation to a 90-employee firm serving the needs of the State of Florida from Coast to Coast.
Robert Tillis said: “Peninsular is one of the longest-tenured and most reputable distributors in Florida, and we could not have found a better partner as we expand into the Southern United States.
“We enthusiastically welcome the Peninsular team members to Imperial and look forward to working together to grow the business.”
Peninsular chairman Dick Clarke said: “I am confident that the legacy the Clarke family has built over the past 100 years will continue under the leadership of Imperial.”
Peninsular manager Richard Clarke Jr., stated that their customers can now expect great service through their access to a broader products and services portfolio. This can bring new opportunities for growth, while the company’s culture of service, responsiveness and expertise is maintained.
Jason Tillis stated that the acquisition is the next step in Imperial’s strategy to expand its position as one of the premier provider of food packaging, paper products, foodservice disposables, and janitorial and healthcare supplies. The company aims to expand its geographical reach in an organic manner through partnership with industry leading companies and operators.
Last year, Imperial Bag & Paper had acquired Accomodation Mollen, a Philadelphia-based distributor of janitorial and sanitary supplier. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
