Ad Investigation of Korean CRC Is Dropped by Mexico

The Ministry of Economy of Mexico (SE) desisted in the antidumping investigation of cold rolled steel from Korea after the commitment of exporters to reduce shipments and market the product according to the domestic market.

The Official Gazette (DOF) reported that exporting companies Posco and Hyundai voluntarily promised to market the product to a non- injurious price for the domestic market of Mexico without exceeding the limits of certain annual export.

Additionally, the exporting companies said they would not carry out internal sales or exports to third-party countries which have the object or effect of circumventing the purposes of this commitment, or will use an intermediary or any other behavior to achieve it.

In July 2012 Ternium Mexico and Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) asked the SE 's administrative investigation of unfair trade practices in the form of price discrimination on the final and temporary imports.

In case of total or partial breach of the undertakings given by Posco and Hyundai, provisional measures may be applied.

According to the data referred to in the research, from 2007 to 2011 the total imports of cold-rolled steel originating in Korea accounted for 37 percent of total imports reached the country.
