Taking her experience working with lifestyle brands J.Crew and Lilly Pulitzer in both merchandising and design, Alexandra Thompson created Persifor, a contemporary line of simple figure flattering silhouettes in bright and colorful prints in early 2012. She now proudly announces the launch of Persifor’s second collection for Resort 2013, inspired by seaside resort destinations and warm weather climates.
Persifor is a reflection of Alex’s personal style- clean, bright, accessible and fun. The signature elasthane and polyamide fabric was custom developed carefully to ensure that it is silky smooth, figure flattering, wrinkle-resistant and machine washable, making it perfect for all-day wear and travel.
Each of the five key silhouettes are designed with a body-slimming shape that compliments a variety of body types and serve as an ideal canvas for their exclusive prints. The five silhouettes are Smitty, Winpenny, Kilpatrick, Haist, and Gilpin - all family surnames of Ms. Thompson.
Every season, Persifor collaborates with an admired artist to engineer their original artwork into unique and distinctive prints. They are limited edition and only last for the season before they are retired to the archives. This season’s artist, Gretchen Morrissey, is based in Raleigh, North Carolina whose idea of design research involves a sailboat, fins and a sketchbook.
Alex holds a BA from Colgate University in English and Art History and an AAS in Fashion Design from Parsons The New School of Design. The name Persifor comes from her grandfather, Persifor Frazer Smith IV, a unique and vibrant character whose style inspires Alex’s designs. The name Persifor is classic, vintage and unique, just like the collection. Dresses, skirts, and accessories can be found in boutique clothing shops around the world.
