CMS Would Discuss Events of The Current Growing Season

Cotton Incorporated is hosting their 2012 Crop Management Seminar (CMS) to give crop consultants, producers and cotton researchers a forum to discuss events of the current growing season, exchange ideas and share information. The CMS will be held in Tunica, Mississippi on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, November 7-9.

This year's seminar includes hands-on workshops on COTMANTM and irrigation management. "We have seen a continuing increase in irrigated acres in the Mid-South and Southeast, and for good reason. In some years, just an extra inch of water at the right time can add at least 50 pounds of fiber per acre by the end of the growing season," explains Dr. Ed Barnes, Director of Agricultural and Environmental Research for Cotton Incorporated. All participants in the workshop will be provided a new 60-page reference document on Cotton Irrigation Management for Humid Regions that will be ready just in time for the workshop.   Based in Memphis, Tennessee, the Cotton Board is the oversight and administrative arm of the Cotton Research & Promotion Program, representing U.S. Upland cotton.   To fund the Program, the Cotton Board collects a per-bale assessment of all Upland cotton harvested and ginned in the U.S., as well as an importer assessment for all Upland cotton products imported into the U.S. To conduct the Program, the Cotton Board contracts with Cotton Incorporated to carryout the actual research and promotion activities for U.S. producers and importers of cotton.
